'Cause we all just wanna be big rockstars andLive in hilltop houses driving fifteen carsThe girls come easy and the drugs come cheapWe'll all stay skinny 'cause we just won't eatAnd we'll hang out in the coolest barsIn the VIP with the movie starsEvery good gold digger's Gonna wind up thereEvery Playboy bunny With her bleach blonde hairAnd well...Hey, hey, I wanna be a rockstarHey, hey, I wanna be a rockstar

Which values does this song make reference to?- being rich/famous/rockstar/celebrity- sacrificing everything for fortune and fame- objectification of women? (It's more obvious in the video, but only a slight reference in the song?)- drugs/fitting in?- latest fashions- not eating (appearance??)Do those sound about right? I'm picking this song for an assignment and need to pick out the values evident in mainstream songs that represent the values Generation Y (1980-1995) has. Thanks! |
