I really liked JT a lot in high school. This was in the 70's and I was the only person I knew who listened to them, and this includes the people I knew at UCSC. JT just had a different sound than the other rock that was out there. I liked the term someone used; "rustic." This is great.

Slight variation, they put all the GOOD music they couldn't put anywhere else under Prog, all the shitty music they couldn't place is now under "alternative".

yeah top tune!! U would be hard pressed find ANY so called TOP band nowadays to play music like them, or any good music from that era!

They called them prog rock cuz of their future music as well. Although I know what u mean by 'rustic rock' cuz their music is too. But they experimented a lot, and were progressive thus why they are reffered to as 'prog rock'. But yeah its hard to put them under any type of musical style, that why they invented the word 'Progressive Rock' and just put all music with electric guitars and other instruments they couldnt understand under prog rock.

In the recent BBC prog rock documentary they put Tull, also people here call them a prog rock band, why? because they made records with only one song?Someone said their music was "rustic rock" and that term is more accurate

I don't think that Jethro Tull could be put under any music group. There just Tull.

saw them first in 71 when the lung album was peaking---saw many times since and they do sound as good or even better at times as the studio ----another band that is as good from the same era is the moodys---always a great show that sounds incredible----never saw zz but they have been around from those days as well with no change of member---saw stones just once but their music leaves alot to be desired in person---their studio work is much better than live---poco was very good back then too
