Saw the Status Quo/Montrose 74 tour at Newcastle. There was such a buzz about Montrose at the time - they were brilliant and Ronnie is such a professional - something that's sadly missing nowadays.

Right you are "borntorun" couldn't agree more.I've had a distant "infatuation" with Denny for about 35 years. am a darn good drummer in my own right, From Sac and Reno. once met his younger brother, Billy Carmassi, who played with Aldo Nova in the 80's. he came and stayed at my house for a few days around 1987. too cool. Viva Denny!

I saw Montrose with Robin Trower in 1978 at Cal Expo. I think Heart and Cheap Trick were there too. It was great. I especially like Sammy in this vid. at 2:51 with that cool jump..yeah!

What a great album this was. Personally, I can't stand anything Haggar did after Montrose, but this was one of the greats.

That drummer rules because he is Denny Carmassi! He played with Ronnie on all the Montrose albums, the GAMMA project and of course went on to record and tour on many albums for Heart over the years. He is fantastic drummer and deserves much more recognition than he gets in my opinion. If you don't have GAMMA 2, you need to go to amazon and buy it NOW. His drumming on that album is completely over the top and tasty! I think it's his best performance on record. Peace -Dave |
