That is one way of understading it, and you probably think it is right. Others have more conservative or 'fundamental' views, some don't mind which translation you use, others say you should use KJV, some say the original autographs were inspired in meaning others say in wording. The world is full of diversity I guess. Though I really disagree with this man's faith, I like the quality of perseverence he has.

The Bible is a narrative that has the actual words God revealed (i.e as Himself talking) and then narration to explain how that revelation came about and its purpose--which is the interpretation, since it is according to the author('s') testimonies as witnesses to God and what He said and did.It's more of a reactionary/experiential witness to God, where humanity is seen interacting with His word in both good and bad ways; as opposed to a dictation or recitation of his thoughts or words.

Well that depends, if God revealed its meaning and the person interpreted it then yes, but if God revealed its wording and the person wrote down the wording then it did not involve the person's interpretation, thus you'd have the word of God fully. I guess it depends on which of the two views one has.

Well, even the people who God revealed His word to were interpreting what He was saying. God isn't bound to human language--He's the one who made it so that we all speak different languages anyway. Even the original language it was revealed in was being interpreted by the person to whom it was revealed, or else it wouldn't have been written down.

The main reason I think he should have done the original language is because now he is memorising the interpretation of people in their translation, it appears KJV which many people think is wrong. By going to the greek he is going closer to the hands of the authors and ultimatly God, if one believes God inspired the wording. I guess I also see this as an additional method of preservation so it would important to memorise the original words, but hey, in the END IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU BELIEVE

Well, once he memorizes the whole thing in his native language then if he knows/learns Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek fluently, all he'd have to do is translate it in his mind and then orate it. The messages are most important, not the language.

Nice effort, would have been good if they had done this through the ages to preserve their text along with the manuscripts. Though I don't get why this pastor doesn't memorise in the original language. Hope you find happyness. |
