What a great celebration! Any word of a repeat on Inauguration Day? Pioneer Square? Fireworks? Let's get Portland dancing in the streets again...!

I loved this comment and put the thumbs down but meant the thumbs up. So sorry. I thought it was beautifully said.

Man this is beautiful brings tears to the eyes I tell you. This was a mostly diverse crowd showing a euphoric sense of patriotism that was felt that night absolutely everywhere. The star spangled banner is a great touch they did the same in NY as well as Miami too.

Hey Sarah FALIN ...check these unpatriotic liberals
RealityCheckMaster (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
like many other democrats, i'm a fiscal conservative who's also a social liberal. but i have to say that although i voted for a man who very well might raise my taxes, i think paying the extra money is worth the greater good of our nation. in my family, a life is worth far more than any amount of money and to me, what biden said about taxes and patriotism is true.republicans act like it's ok to send kids to die in a war but it's not ok for the rich to pay taxes. that's just pure and simple greed
RealityCheckMaster (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
and just so some people understand what this is all about. it's not about one man, it's about the entire nation, it's about breaking the chains of ignorance and hate that have plagued this country and this earth for so long. today we stand in front of a world that envies us once again as a pioneer and leader in this world. we have regained that credibility that our forefathers worked so hard to create. no other nation on this earth has freely elected a member of a minority, this is world history

when white folks from the countryside claim that blacks, hispanics, asians and other immigrants are unpatriotic, it's because they've been alienated and made to feel like they weren't part of this country. when you create a sense of unity and inclusion as happened on that great night, the hidden patriotism that was pushed to the farthest corners of their being finally get a chance to burst out as the nation is finally starting to live up to it's foundational creed of equality for all!
