I suppose that's what I meant when I said its an age thing. I was 21 a few years after the film came out and I always thought I could identify with Ben - his being completely unable to connect with his parents and their values. I think 'we' (i.e those of our generation) wanted something different whereas my daughter just wants the big house car etc. and can't understand those who don't.I went through my Mrs Robinson - and I met my Elaine (though sadly it did not last).

She's 23? Well, she was born in the mid-80s and is not in the target range at all. That does not mean someone her age cannot relate to it. However, it is more likely that an older person would. Being born in the 1960s or earlier is much more to one's advantage for relating to the film.Dustin's performance as Ben is brilliant. He put so much life into that character. His interest in following Elaine at the campus was so intense! Again, that music is classic. Here's to Mrs. Robinson!

Agree with you completely. Perhaps its an age thing though. My wife and I love the film - we showed it to our 23 yr old daughter and she didn't get it. But I remember first seeing the picture when I was 23 and I understood where Ben was coming from completely.

No, you are not. I, too, think that the timeless music of Simon & Garfunkel really made "The Graduate." What a classic film with a dynamite soundtrack!
