2007 Cyder Cup
Slide show of photos from the first Cyder Cup (Golf) Competition held in Portugal on Nov 8th to 10th 2007. The event was hosted by the Vigia Group and held in Parque da Floresta which is an excellent 5 star resort in the Western Algarve with a testing and mature golf course.The local Portuguese team was narrowly defeated by a competitive Irish Team, captained by the charismatic Martin Lynch.The competition was a better ball stableford format, with 12 players from each team. Total points from each pairing counted to the overall score, which kept the pressure on right to the end. The Irish Team won by 7 points and returned the Cyder Cup to Stephen Murphy in Dublin, who created and organised the event but could not attend due to health reasons.The Irish team will host our Portuguese friends in a return match in Dublin in September 2008, so watch this space...
