maybe for idiots like you that dont have to do repetitive maths where accuracy is critical. surveying requires that and this was once a critical tool. my old boss had one and it was just as useful as our programmable calculators for doing calcs when teamed with your standard tables for doing trig etc.

this is a type 1 curta older than mine...I have a type 1 may 1969 and a type 2 june 1967...didn't really know what I had...I found it in an old camera case! What a lucky find.
