After flying the twin Aero Commander five and six days and nights a week for seven months, I thought I WAS Bob Hoover...SHEEYAT!

I flew that dumbed down model of the shrike flying freight between Michigan and Chicago. The twin Aero Commander is an easy bird to control in bad weather. The engines in the piston model have 297HP each. Very hot.

I loved "Reaching for the skies" I wish the soundtrack to the series was available.

I was lucky enough to see Bob Hoover's show both at Oshkosh and later in Australia. Words cannot describe the exhilaration of seeing the best airshow pilot in the world putting that Shrike through it's paces.

Bob Hoover is as good as they get. I've seen him many times, mostly in the Commander but also stretching out a P-38, always amazing.
