Karl was the one who tracked down a Derwent, it took him quite a period of time to find exactly the engine he required, it was shipped out from England to Australia, and came pretty much how you see it in the video. It had been in storage for quite a period of time covered in a wax film.

Its not us which rock, its the Rolls Royce Derwent which rocks, a lovely piece of engineering even to this day.

What the vido does not show is the many failed attempts to start the engine, lots of unburnt jet fuel, and some very tired batteries, the throttle control is a tiny arm at the front of the engine, with no indication of settings.

15 years ago when we first started mucking around with jets it was not a issue, these days people are very sensitive to noise, smoke and fire, I am not sure why the world has changed so much in such a short time. |
